Vejer de la Frontera is a small, perfectly conserved, historic town surrounded by beautiful countryside. It has been granted the status of Area of Historic and Artistic Interest and has also won the Most Beautiful Towns of Spain award. The steep, zigzagging streets are filled with the whitewashed houses with balconies full of flowers, hotels, shops and restaurants and much more. Fifteen minutes away on the Atlantic coast are several spectacular beaches. El Palmar has remained undeveloped thanks to strict limits on building and is normally free from crowds. Los Caños de Meca has more visitors and is very popular with young people.

LA JANDA IH VEJER

La Janda IH Vejer’s teachers are university graduates trained in the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language by International House, and are required to take refresher courses each year. La Janda IH Vejer’s teachers each have a minimum of two years experience teaching both adolescent and adult student groups from North America. They are also experienced at developing and leading extracurricular activities and closely supervising student progress. Language and communication classes emphasize Spanish culture and customs. Class resources are designed and adapted to meet student needs.

The pick up service (from Jerez and Málaga airports) is included.

THIS SCHOOL OFFERS:

Facilities: Library and computer room.
Student relations: 22 classes per week. Each student is given personal attention and his or her progress is closely monitored. Optional classes covering a wide range of material such as phonetics and pronunciation are offered.
Human resources: There is a program director, assistant program director, training department director, and a large teaching team (most of the teachers have advanced knowledge of English).
Lodging: Lodging is available only with Spanish families, which is best suited to helping the students learn as much Spanish as possible during their stay. Families are carefully selected and live close to the school.

PROGRAM ACTIVITIES:

Extra-curricular activities: Extracurricular activities take 10-15 hours per week and may include visits to places of interest, participatory sports, guest speakers, a visit to a flamenco school, cooking classes, additional classes on Spanish history and culture, etc.
Day trips: Two trips are usually taken to Granada, and Córdoba or Ronda.
