SAN SEBASTIÁN

Surrounded by lush green mountains overlooking the Bay of Biscay and the Cantabric Sea, the beautiful northern city of San Sebastián is located near the Pyrenees, one hour’s drive to the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. The city is home to must-see monuments and breathtaking landscapes, ample leisure activities, and a superb cuisine. It is not only the site of the prestigious San Sebastian International Film Festival, but is also considered a surfer’s paradise!

LACUNZA IH SAN SEBASTIÁN

Lacunza – International House (IH) San Sebastián is the most prestigious language school in San Sebastián and is attended by more than 1,000 students a year. The main objective of Lacunza – IH San Sebastián is to help students make the best use of their time to improve their Spanish communication skills. At the same time, it strives to make its student’s experiences memorable. To this end, Lacunza – IH San Sebastián organizes cultural activities and visits to sites of interest in the Basque Country. The school also offers tutoring programs and maintains close contact with host families.

THIS SCHOOL OFFERS:

  • Facilities: Library, computer room with Internet access, free wireless network (WIFI), study room, public telephone, cafeteria, and access to sports facilities. Multimedia exhibition room with big screen plus 5.1 digital sound, 120 m2 terrace.
  • Student relations: Both the teaching and the administrative staff work to make the students’ stay as rewarding as possible. There are weekly tutoring sessions.
  • Human resources: Program director, highly specialized teaching staff, activity monitor, housing director with long experience and knowledge of languages.
  • Lodging: Accommodations are generally provided with a Spanish family (single or double room). Families are carefully selected and in many cases have children of their own, although not always of the same age as the students they host.
  • Exchange with Spanish students: Spanish students also take language classes at the school, affording American students ample opportunities for exchange.

PROGRAM ACTIVITIES:

  • Extra-curricular activities: Four types of activities: cultural, social, sports and excursions. Various activities such as cinema at the school, soccer on the beach, bicycling and volleyball as well as tours of San Sebastián, and trips to the Science Museum, the Museo de Chillida, the Naval Museum, Mt. Urgull, Pasajes de San Juan or to Zarauz, Pamplona, the Guggenheim in Bilbao, Biarritz in France....
  • Day trips: Two trips normally to Biarritz and San Juan de Luz (France), Vitoria (Álava), Bilbao (Vizcaya), Guetaria (Guipúzcoa).
