Located in the heart of the Iberian Peninsula, Madrid is Spain’s capital. Here the modern mixes with the historical in a city that offers a wide range of cultural and artistic highlights. Near Madrid lies the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, an impressive palace and monastery complex built by Philip II and considered one of the eight wonders of the world. The Aranjuez Royal Residence, a former royal retreat, is nearby. UNESCO has declared both World Heritage Landscapes. The beautiful city of Alcalá de Henares, a World Heritage Site, is a short hop away.

INTERNATIONAL HOUSE MADRID

International House Madrid is a member of the International House World Organization (IHWO), a network of 110 schools in 30 countries, committed to the highest standards in education and training. IHWO’s goal as a non-profit organization is to raise language education standards worldwide. International House Madrid was established in 1981 and is conveniently located in the center of Madrid. Its magnificent modern facilities motivate and facilitate student learning. International House Madrid specializes in teaching languages to teenagers and adults, as well as teacher training. The school enjoys an excellent international reputation, thanks in no small part to its outstanding teachers.

THIS SCHOOL OFFERS:

  • Facilities: Library, multimedia room, Internet cafe, video arcade, study room, and cafeteria.
  • Student relations: This is a priority for the school, so personalized attention and tutoring is offered.
  • Human resources: Two program directors and a large team of teachers who have an excellent background and long experience in teaching Spanish to young American students.
  • Lodging: The school carefully selects lodging. Most students will stay within fifteen minutes from the school either by walking or public transportation.
  • Exchanges with Spanish students: There are opportunities for exchange between American and Spanish students at the school.

PROGRAM ACTIVITIES:

  • Extra-curricular activities: Three activities per week: welcome party, walking tour of Madrid, visits to the Prado Museum, the Reina Sofia Museum, the Convento de las Descalzas, the Hermitage of San Antonio de la Florida, Royal Palace, Encarnación Monastery, Kayaking, a flamenco show, and a Spanish film.
  • Day trips: Trips to Toledo and Segovia.
