GRANADA

Located in southern Spain, at the foot of the mighty Sierra Nevada Mountains, Granada is one of the most fascinating of Spanish cities, boasting a rich Moorish heritage and splendid Renaissance and Baroque architectural masterpieces. Important vestiges of Granada’s Moorish past include the Albaicin quarter, the Alhambra and the Generalife—all World Heritage Sites. The Royal Chapel is the final resting place of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella. The Alhambra, the palace of Granada’s Moorish kings, is perhaps unrivalled in Spain for its beauty and architectural splendor, receiving more visitors each year than any other Spanish monument. Granada’s streets, fountains, and gardens bear witness to a fabulous mix of cultures, making a visit to Granada a most memorable experience.
